Description

In this session, Helena Morais will examine how international financial flows influence electoral dynamics, shaping the conditions under which democratic choices are made. Combining empirical data with political-economic analysis, the presentation will also examine how states may either reinforce or resist the pressures of financial power in pursuit of developmental goals. By situating the case of Brazil within broader regional trends, this session invites reflection on the contested terrain between democratic sovereignty and global financial imperatives.
