Biden's first 100 days

This roundtable will discuss some key topics which have arisen during the first one hundred days of the new Biden administration, including major trends in US foreign policy, cyber security, populism, and communication style.

 

Speakers 

Chair: Eugenio Lilli is a lecturer at the Clinton Institute for American Studies, University College Dublin. Eugenio's research focuses on how advancements in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) have affected US national security in the areas of defense, homeland security, and foreign policy. He is a former convenor of the BISA US Foreign Policy Working Group in the UK.

Speaker: Maria Ryan is an Assistant Professor of American History in the Department of American & Canadian Studies at the University of Nottingham. Her research interests are broadly in the field of post-Cold War US foreign policy, as well as the history of the CIA. Her second book, Full Spectrum Dominance: Irregular Warfare and the War on Terror, was published by Stanford University Press in September 2019. She is a former convenor of the BISA US Foreign Policy Working Group in the UK. 

Speaker: Adam Quinn is Associate Professor in American and International Politics and the School of Government, University of Birmingham. His current project is on American ideological debates over America over grand strategy and liberal order. He was convenor of the BISA USFP working group for four years from 2008-12.' 

Speaker: Alexandra Homolar is Associate Professor of International Security at the University of Warwick, and her research lies at the intersection of security, language, and political psychology. Alex has published in journals such as the European Journal of International RelationsSecurity Dialogue, Review of International Studies, and Journal of Strategic Studies, and she has recently been awarded a 2021 Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship for project on populist security imaginaries.
