International Political Economy Working Group Annual Book Prize lecture: Susanne Soederberg

Europe/London
Description

To celebrate the award of the BISA IPEG 2021 book prize, Professor Susanne Soederberg (Queen’s University) will be speaking live about her winning book Urban displacement, Governing Surplus and Survival in Global Capitalism (published by Routledge).

Susanne will be joined by Dr Matthew Bishop (University of Sheffield), who chaired the awarding Book Prize Committee, and will act as a discussant. The event will be chaired by Dr Melita Lazell (University of Portsmouth), who is a current IPEG convener and book prize committee member.

In awarding the prize the committee noted that Urban Displacements "offers a window into the evolution of contemporary financialised neoliberalism and the deep-seated classed and raced dynamics underpinning it." They commended the book as "a highly original and deeply informative account of today's predatory capitalism that is lucid, insightful and compelling".

We look forward to welcoming you to this event!

Registration will close two hours before the event begins.
