Description
How can we apply the theories and methods of feminist political economy to the European Union (EU)? Despite a highly developed corpus of feminist work on questions of economic policy, employment policy, care and social reproduction, there is still limited application of this work to the EU. This is particularly concerning given the increasingly prominent role played by EU institutions, including the Commission and the European Central Bank, in shaping economic and social circumstances both within and outside the EU’s borders.
In this panel we invite feminist political economists to take up the call to analyse the EU – we welcome work on any aspect of EU policy or politics that draws on feminist political economy. We are particularly interested in work that recognises the intersecting consequences and determinates of political economy.
