Oppressive regimes and Forced Displacement: the continued violation of Human Rights and Human Dignity

23 Jun 2023, 10:45

Description

Abstract- It’s a crystal clear fact to bear in mind that there are far more authoritarian regimes than full democracies in the world today. According to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), it is evident that the top ten source countries for forcibly displaced come from mostly wracked by protracted armed conflict. As massive, forced displacement continues unabated to unprecedented historic levels, precipitated by serious international crimes and severe breaches of human rights and human dignity, the demand for addressing this unjustifiable situation continues to grow. Most frequently, this is due to war, armed conflict, authoritarian, oppressive dictatorships, or even totalitarian regimes. Indeed, the relationship between serious international crimes and severe breaches in human rights and human dignity is directly and indirectly interconnected. This paper will try to find evidence of a direct linkage between severe violations to a person’s human rights and human dignity and serious international crimes which is blatantly self-evident. And in addition, this paper will also try to highlight the human rights abuses, through serious international criminality, which causes forced displacement as a reactionary self-preservation measure.
