Description
This paper examines how British foreign policy has, and has not, contributed to the shaping of the global order in the past. It does so by examining British foreign policy after the 1990-91 Gulf War, which occurred at a crucial moment, as the world was adjusting to a post-Cold War era. During this time the United States was trying to establish a “new world order” and this paper will scrutinise how British foreign policy challenged or supported these ideas. In so doing, it aims to draw lessons from the past experience that could help to improve Britain’s role in creating the global order of the future.
