Description

With the emergence of Russia and China as a secondary unipolar world the economic and
military supremacy of the United States in the Asia-Pacific region and Africa is challenged. In the past 2-3 decades, the Sino-US rivalry has ascended in an unprecedented manner, increasing the possibility of a confrontation between these countries. Being an East Asian economic and military giant, China plays an important role in this context. With its amicable ties with the Russian federation, it has considerably challenged the role of the former colonial powers in the continent. West in the past megalomania is herding the world with the same yard stick, not realizing that it is a story of the past.
Introduction
Africa has remained one of the significant region in the geopolitical arena of the world,
with immense natural resources and wealth at their disposal. It has remained an imperative economic and geopolitical junction for the western world for over three centuries. Its recent inclination / ties with the Russia and China have remained a cornerstone for its national and foreign policy making. However, in the past few years, a significant shift in the security paradigm can be observed, with new ties in terms of Military aid and economic dependency.
Now one can safely assume that an alternative is available in every regard. The primary reasons which place Africa at the very center of a conflict are its recent past domination by the colonial powers and for its strategic protection. Now its change in the regional balance of power structure, increasing Chinese military/economic expansion in the region, and the increasing confrontation between China and west over exclusive economic zones and the disputes. All these factors outline that if the conflict arises/ intensifies, African continent may find itself in a precarious position and may become a hot zone in the Great Game. It must be borne in the mind that the region is gripped with over 34 on going conflicts, with no solutions in the foreseeable future.
