Description
This paper offers an assessment of US President Donald Trump’s record on India-US bilateral relations. Amid Trump’s vocal apprehensions on bilateral trade imbalances and a momentary reversal of US de-hyphenation of India and Pakistan, the India-US bilateral dynamic witnessed serious challenges. However, a sense of continuity prevailed given the United States’ courtship of India towards its aims in the Indo-Pacific at-large. Under Trump, this included unprecedented developments, such as a deeper institutionalisation of India-US strategic ties, finalisation of critical foundational agreements, and mitigation of India’s long-standing westward apprehensions.
