Public event: Belfast blitz history talk by Scott Edgar, editor of Wartime Northern Ireland

Europe/London
Europa Hotel, Belfast

Europa Hotel, Belfast

Europa Hotel, Great Victoria Street, Belfast BT2 7AP,
Description

April and May 1941 brought the Second World War to Northern Ireland, shattering peace and tranquility and ending the notion that it would never happen here. The Luftwaffe attacked in waves, decimating working-class neighbourhoods in the almost undefended city. Many myths abounded for years following the Belfast Blitz. While many focus on facts and figures, we must look at the people's story.

Speaker

Scott Edgar is the editor of WartimeNI, a digital platform for all things Second World War related in Northern Ireland. You can pay a virtual visit to airfields, beach defences, bunkers, shelters, memorials, monuments, and bomb sites. You can find out all about royal visits, the effects of the Belfast Blitz, Polish pilots, and the arrival of around 300,000 American GIs. It’s much more than just military history.
