The Demise of Conflict Studies
Zoom
We are pleased to welcome Yvan Guichaoua (BICC) and Wolfram Lacher (SWP) to present their article, the 'Demise of Conflict Studies’,.
The article has encouraged considerable debate from scholars and practitioners in the peace and conflict studies fields, with its honest and critical reflections on the state of the discipline. The authors, both with extensive experience in understanding conflict and the dynamics of applying research to policy, have painted a troubled picture in which the field is struggling with relevance, has its access restricted, has been indifferent to mass atrocity and western support for the Israeli invasion of Gaza.
In this one-hour online seminar, the authors of the piece will be asked to discuss their reflections on its background and the critical questions it raises, before Christine Cheng (Kings College London), offers her reflections as a senior academic in the field of peacebuilding and conflict studies. There will be time for discussion Q/A and reflections.
Registration will close two hours before the event begins
