Local Peacebuilding with British Youth: Rethinking Atrocity Prevention from Within

12 Jan 2027, 17:00

Description

This contribution examines how youth engagement in the UK can reshape atrocity prevention through bottom-up approaches rooted in human connection and arts-based practices. Challenging the assumption that atrocity prevention is primarily a foreign policy concern, it positions everyday human rights violations in liberal democracies as potential precursors to broader violence. By engaging youth as active agents, the paper offers a novel framework for linking peacebuilding, human rights, and social cohesion within Western contexts.
