International Politics of Migration in Times of Crises and Uncertainty

How is the international politics of migration changing in times of crises and uncertainty? In what ways does it stay the same? We seek to shed light on these and other questions related to the migration-security nexus by looking into such critical periods in the 21st century, notably associated with the 2008 economic crisis, large-scale refugee wave to Europe in 2014-2016, and the current COVID-19 pandemic, bringing also historical comparisons. The discussion features ongoing collective work conducted by BISA’s working group on the “International Politics of Migration, Refugees and Diaspora,” and individual contributions by:
