Join us for a roundtable discussion on potential non-academic career paths after the PhD.
Not all of our members will be interested in a traditional academic career, but having a PhD can still be an incredible asset in the wider world of employment. Even if your job does not require you to engage in academic research, the skillset and proficiencies gained over the course of the PhD can make you very attractive to employers in the non-profit, public, and private sector. For this roundtable discussion, we will hear from three researchers in international studies who either have or are studying for a PhD, but are pursuing careers outside of academia. Our guests will be as follows:
Dr Joe Mulhall - Senior Researcher, Hope Not Hate
Marion Messmer - Co-Director, British-American Security Council (BASIC)
Mariah Loukou - Research & Enterprise Policy Officer, City, University of London
Each panelist will speak about their career paths and how their PhD has helped them to get to where they are today, and there will be a Q&A session with the opportunity for attendees to ask questions.
