Europe/London
Zoom

Description

This session explores a series of strategies for increasing the likelihood of success in exam taking. Building on the experience of 15 years advising students in exam preparation, the discussion examines the following elements: important working habits; topic selection; scheduling; knowledge recall methods; mock practice; and writing the essay script. Attention will also be devoted to variations in the exam model, including take-home papers and the use of computers. An emphasis is placed on ways to reduce stress and the importance of good preparation. There will be plenty of space to ask questions and engage with the themes of the seminar.

Dr Matthew Eagleton-Pierce is a Reader (Associate Professor) in International Political Economy at SOAS University of London. He previously taught at the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, and the University of Exeter. He has also held a Visiting Fellow position at the MaxPo Center at Sciences Po Paris. All his research has been preoccupied with understanding the forms of power in capitalism, with a particular interest around the nexus between material and symbolic power.
